    Matilda

Recently HBO Family has been playing Matilda quite a few times now. The movie just brings back so much memories and made me realize just how much I love Matilda. Matilda is my childhood hero, she taught me a lot of things. I even think the person I am today is very much inspired by her. Here are a few reasons why Matilda should also be your childhood hero:

    1. She is the bravest kid you will ever know

Now answer this, did you ever walk a mile to go to a library all by yourself at the age of 3? I bet not, but Matilda did! What 3 year old goes to the library all by herself? A brave one I tell ya! If 3 year old Matilda can be so brave why can't we?

Remember when Matilda went inside Ms. Trunchbull's house? That was the most nerve-racking scene from the entire movie. I wouldn't even go near that house! This also proves Matilda's bravery.

    2. She knows how to take care of herself from a very young age

Matilda's parents are really bad at parenting, that's coming from a girl who doesn't even know a single thing about parenting. But I do know that you should never leave your children all alone at home, especially if they're still a toddler. But in the movie, being neglected is what made Matilda learn how to take care of herself. Not only that she knew how to put on her own clothes, she knew how to make pancakes! To quote the narrator "She learned how to take care of herself when she was about 4 - 6 the way thatpeople would take care of themselves in their early 30's."

    3. She is very intelligent

I've always remembered the scene where Ms. Honey was teaching the class about multiplications. She was just saying that one day the student might be able to count big multiplications such as 13x397, then suddenly without even a pause Matilda answered "4927." By then she was only 6 and it was her first day of school! Ms. Honey even came by Matilda's house to inform her parents that with that knowledge Matilda could be in college in just a few years. But once again Matilda's parents didn't even care. They laughed at the thought of Matilda going to college.

    4. She's a great friend

There was that funny scene when Lavender puts a newt in the jug of water meant for Ms. Trunchbull and "The Trunch" freaks out as she realizes the newt in her glass of water. Ms. Trunchbull then blames Matilda, even though Matilda knew it was Lavender who put it there she didn't tell, she just denied Ms. Trunchbull's accuses. When Lavender thanked Matilda for not telling, she just said that tha's what best friends do.

Matilda was also the first one to cheer for Bruce Bogtrotter when he was having difficulty in finishing the giant chocolate cake given by Ms. Trunchbull. The cheering actually worked for Bruce did finish the cake. What a huge appetite.

    5. She's got style

Matilda found a sense of style when she was very little, which was wearing a bow. Oh that cute little bow really suited her! She also wore very cute flowery dresses usually with a cardigan. I realized that Matilda's style was a bit similar to Ms. Honey's. I guess they really were destined to be a family.

    6. She has super powers!

This is the most important reason above all, every fictional hero should have super powers! Though in the movie she didn't actually call her unusual talent "super powers" I'm saying that she should. Because they are quite super. Matilda can move stuff just by looking at it, now who in the world wouldn't want to be able to do that? Since Matilda is a very good girl she uses her powers for good. She may have used them to punish mean people but she does it because they really do deserve it and she also never goes too far with it.

So there you go! My childhood hero, who I think is now yours too.

    Favorite Things

"These are a few of my favorite things."

I would like to share with you my favorite things, because I believe that the things I love are mostly what makes me, me! All our favorite things sometimes can be the things that makes us different from other people, so here it goes.

    Favorite color: Blue.
Favorite food: Not really sure about this one since it keeps on changing, but for now I would have to say Mac and Cheese.
Favorite song: Vienna - Matt Costa. I don't think I can ever get bored of this one song.
Favorite (music) artists: Noah and The Whale, Freelance Whales, Fanfarlo, Generationals, and She & Him. Those are only a few of my favorites, you can go on to my last.fm if you'd like to know the rest.
Favorite books: To Kill A Mockingbird, The Book Thief, The Mysterious Benedict Society series, Flavia de Luce series.
Favorite TV shows: Doctor Who, Sherlock, Phineas & Ferb.
Favorite activities: Writing, eating, sleeping, showering (I don't know why but showering can sometimes be a happiness boost), reading, listening to music, going on tumblr, watching my favorite tv shows.

    Favorite flowers: Daisies.
Favorite Movies: Meet The Robinsons, A Series Of Unfortunate Events, National Treasure 1 & 2.

Well, now that you know a few of my favorite things I hope we have things in common!

    Hi!

Today I feel like writing, there's really not much to tell though. I guess I should start off with telling you recent facts about my life:
    1. I'm a senior now and this is going to be my sixth year in Labschool, time sure passes by.
    2. I have to write some what of an essay to graduate from high school, this made me very very anxious at first but now that I've actually started working on my essay it's not as scary as I thought it would be. I still hope that everything will go well though.
    3. I went to Australia again and to be honest it wasn't much fun without my sister but it was still a very nice vacation. Here are a few photos:
    4. I'm lately having doubts about my future, so confused whether I should follow my own dreams or be the person my parents expect me to be. They want me to be a doctor or major in economy but I want neither of those stuff. I want to study wildlife biology or maybe english literature, it probably won't make me a millionaire but at least I'd be happy doing the things I love. Then again I really don't want to let my parents down.
    5. I'm counting down to the 2nd part of Doctor Who Series 6 which will launch on August 27th.
    6. There will also be the 2nd series of Sherlock, oh how I love those british TV shows.
    7. I made a second twitter account, which I now think of as my first twitter account. But I won't be telling you my username since my purpose of making a second account is to tweet without feeling judged. It's not like I tweet about my feelings or anything like that, trust me I don't. I just like the idea of being able to write down my thoughts without worrying about what others might think. Maybe the reason I like to feel judged is because I myself like to judge other people's tweets, but now on my second account I only follow very few people and they're mostly celebrities so I don't get irritated by those tweets people I know in real life like to tweet. I also no longer have to feel obliged to follow those people nor feel guilty about unfollowing them.
So those are a few things which have been happening in my life lately, TTFN!

    The Book Thief

Okay, so I have been wanting to post this for almost a week. So here it goes, a few weeks a go I read The Book Thief which is currently number one on the list of New York Times Best-Sellers. And maybe you've heard me saying this about other books I've read but this book is by-far the best book I have ever read. And probably one day I'll say this again about another book, but for now I am mostly grateful that I have read The Book Thief.

The story is about Liesel Meminger a girl who lived in Nazi-Germany during World War II. What I like about the story is that it didn't actually focus on the war, instead it just focused on Liesel and all the wonderful and also horrible things that happened to her during the period of 1939-1943........ I think.
Well moving on, the point of this post is actually....... well there's not much point to it lol. I guess I just wanted to share my thoughts on the book and my reactions to the story which you may find pretty silly or maybe not.

I finished the book at school where I had to try as hard as I could to hold back my tears so no one would ask what was wrong. And that my friend, clearly shows how heartbreaking the book is. You may think I'm exaggerating but I'm really not, the book is really that sad. Okay I know that writing about this may make me sound weird but that night after finishing the book I actually cried while repeating the scenes in my head. I just couldn't bare the thought of losing everyone I know and being the only one left to survive. Now I understand what the character, Death meant when he said that the survivors are the ones that he couldn't bare to look at the most. I was so attached to the book that I could feel what Liesel felt when she woke up to find that everyone she loved had died. I cried the hardest when I thought about the part where Liesel came to her Papa's dead body, he was the one she loved the most out of everyone else in life. Even writing about it right now makes me want to cry all over again. I know they're just fictional characters and I shouldn't be too emotional about it, but I just feel like they are all there right in front of me and I can't help but think that it's real. And again I know they're not real, what matters is that it feels real.

There was also this quote which I really like, "Sometimes you read a book so special that you want to carry it around with you for months after you’ve finished just to stay near it." --Markus Zusak

The next thing I'm about to say may be a bit off topic but I just wanted to say how good it feels to be writing. I've always loved writing but lately I haven't had the time to go online to write a post or just write on a piece of paper. It's probably because I don't make time which I should. I guess I could write on twitter but there's always this feeling of being judged. So I'd rather write here.

    Koalas & Kiwis

This summer I went to Australia and New Zealand. It was the best vacation ever. I finally got to see koalas, kangaroos, kiwi birds. I even got to see glowworms inside a cave! They looked like stars but they were blue which happens to be my favorite color. The weather was great, it was pretty cold but I enjoyed every minute I spent there. And after 10 years I finally got the chance to see and feel snow again! Oh I'm totally going abroad when I graduate high school.
